The Safe Ride Foundation’s Rides for Good program has officially completed its 1,000th ride to a medical appointment.
For many people, getting to the doctor is as simple as getting in the car. But for thousands of Frederick County residents, transportation is a serious barrier. Roughly one-third of people in Frederick County are transportation-limited, meaning they may not have reliable access to a vehicle or other dependable transportation.
Many of the people we serve are part of the ALICE population — Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are working families who often earn too much to qualify for traditional assistance, but still struggle to afford the basic cost of living.
When transportation becomes unstable, medical care is often one of the first things impacted.
That is where Rides for Good comes in.
Our volunteers help local residents reach medical appointments, employment, grocery stores, and other essential destinations. Reaching 1,000 medical rides means 1,000 opportunities for someone to receive the care they needed without transportation standing in the way.
We also want to give a huge thank you to the medical facilities, healthcare providers, case managers, and community partners throughout Frederick County who continue referring patients and clients to Rides for Good.
These partnerships help us reach the people who need transportation assistance most.
